It's been a while since we had it. We ordered: 1. Escargots, which were alright. Could use more garlic and oomph. 2. Potato Gratin: Cheesy and baked to perfection. 3. Garlic Prawn (Ajillos): Would have been better if they were fresh tiger prawns. 4. Mentaiko Pasta: It's okay. Well seasoned but not too salty. 5. Sukiyaki Omelette Rice, I believe: Huge. It's okay as well. Small place and it was very crowded, so it was quite cramped. Service was okay.

Revisited after 2 decades, and their squid ink pasta is still the best! The onion gratin recipe seemed changed, though, tasting thinner than usual. As for the beef sirloin, it paired well with the pasta and was tasty too.

Nice vintage-looking restaurant. **Food:** I ordered the hamburger (supposedly a signature). It was okay; nothing special, but I would say the carrots were surprisingly sweet and light, and quite a nice addition to the meal. The potato salad was meh, and the patty itself was okay. My partner ordered the wagyu promo hot plate—full of sauce and ingredients! It was okay too; nothing special. We're just guessing they might be better with their spaghetti. We ordered the strawberry shortcake for dessert, and it honestly saved the whole experience! It was light, fluffy, and not too sweet! It went really well with tea. Their iced tea was really good. **Service:** Staff were quick to respond and very friendly. **Atmosphere:** Cute vintage-looking interior and great for photos if you're into IG photos and such. **Overall:** All good. The food could be better, but it's okay.

Haven't been here in yonks! Used to go often when I was working in the area. A group went for dinner. I tried their signature Hamburg steak again. Yum! The atmosphere was very woody and cozy, though the tables are quite packed in. The place to go if you want quality Japanese interpretation of Western food.

It's one of my favourite restaurants. This outlet has been here since day one of Bugis Junction, nearly 30 years ago. Food is top-notch. The only thing I want to complain about is the noise level inside the restaurant. The place was full of diners chatting, and with the background music, it can be a little overwhelming. Also, the interior could use a little updating. Will still be coming back for the fabulous food 👍👍👍

Here's the edited review: A good lunch deal that includes soup, salad, and a drink. The restaurant is nicely decorated in a traditional style. It's quite crowded during weekday lunchtime, but the wait in the queue isn't too long. You might be offered a seat at the bar, but you can wait a bit longer for a table.

I came to Ma Maison with a friend on a Saturday evening after a patient 30-minute wait, as I have always wanted to dine here. I have consistently believed that the food here is exceptional, given the frequent long wait and queue I observe whenever I pass by any of the outlets. Personally, the food was okay. I ordered the Omu-Rice and, as usual, the eggs I have had at Japanese restaurants never fail to please me; however, I was not a fan of the sauce, although it could just be me, as most people seemed to enjoy it. We also had the Classic Strawberry Shortcake, which had the usual layers of light, fluffy cake, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream, both visually appealing and satisfying. The restaurant itself featured subdued lighting that contributed to an inviting atmosphere. Each table was adorned with small light bulbs, which provided ideal illumination for a comforting ambience, making it also suitable for photos. The staff demonstrated a high level of attentiveness and possessed extensive knowledge of the menu. They operate efficiently and maintain professionalism, even in the face of the challenges presented by a bustling restaurant environment. Overall, I had a nice time, but I may opt for something else on the menu when I visit again.

Had a great and fantastic meal at Ma Maison Bugis! Loved the creamy corn soup, sizzling garlic prawns, and perfectly cooked sirloin steak. The katsu curry omurice was also amazing—fluffy egg, crispy cutlet, rich curry. Everything was fresh and full of flavour. Will be back!

A local friend recommended this restaurant for dinner since we were staying nearby. The restaurant was pretty crowded during dinner time on a weekend, and we waited for quite some time before being seated. The menu offered a good variety of Japanese-Western fusion dishes. We ordered escargot and seafood paella to share. The food took a while to arrive, but it was served fresh, which was great. Both dishes were pretty okay. The seafood paella was not too big, but enough for two. The overall dining experience was alright, but nothing too special to shout about. It is definitely more of a no-frills restaurant with traditional and family vibes.

Love the atmosphere and the service, but the food leaves much to be desired. Came for dinner on a Thursday around 6:30 PM. We had to wait about 45 minutes before we could get a table, as only counter seats were available. Our party of two ordered the prawn and scallop gratin, tonkatsu curry, and the hamburg steak. We had two Asahis as well. The gratin did not have much potato. It was a baked pasta dish. There were only TWO prawns and ONE scallop. It did not have much flavor and had chicken bits inside. Would not recommend. The tonkatsu curry was decent; the pork was a touch dry, but overall it was okay. No miso soup was given. The hamburger steak was good. Service was great, and the waitstaff were polite and friendly.
