I'm so happy to see the Irvine store in Bugis, Singapore. I bought plenty because I love the salted egg fish skin.

This is always a must-buy item when you visit Singapore. It tastes very good, crispy, and addictive.

Crispy seaweed paired with the usual savoury salted-egg flavour. Very addictive. Pun intended. But on a serious note, this is actually pretty good.

I went to the Bugis branch after work, around 7:30 PM on 14 July. The store was not particularly busy at that time. There were only one or two groups of customers in front of me paying. The store was quite small, and there was only one female staff member on shift. I began to choose what I wanted to buy, and then I found that I still needed a pack of salted egg fish skin (small pack), but the lower shelf was out of stock. I looked up and saw that there was still a packet on the second shelf, but I couldn't reach it. Because I couldn't reach the upper shelf, I had to ask the female staff for help. I said, âHi, I want that small bag. Can you take it down for me?â The shop assistant said, âOh, I canât get that. I can't give it to you. If you want, you can take the big bag from below.â (I paused and thought for a few seconds. I was thinking that the goods were lined up over there. How could she not get them? Did it mean that it was as bad as I thought? Or was I misunderstanding? Perhaps she meant that someone had ordered it?) In order to confirm that it wasn't the bad meaning I thought, I didn't want to misunderstand her. I asked the female staff again: âErm... What does your 'can't get it' mean? Did someone order it, or something?â The female staff said, âNo, I just can't get it for you! Itâs too high for me to reach!â Then she answered, âIf you can get it yourself, then you can only buy it lor.â She spoke in a very reasonable and upright manner. Her response made me so confused and disappointed, and I didn't know how to deal with her instantly, so I chose not to purchase anything and left. What the hell? Do I have to get something that is placed on a high shelf by myself? Her implication was, "We will only sell it to you if you can get it yourself." (Such a high shelf! When you usually replenish the goods, do you never have to replenish the goods on the top two shelves? Are there no low stools or long sticks to assist in the store?) Is her response worth my patronage in this store? I can understand that if there were really no auxiliary tools in the store to reach the high shelf, she could choose to explain politely to me, but not with this kind of dismissive attitude towards the customer.

The service is fast, and all their products are well-displayed. However, the store is quite small, so you may need to wait outside if there are already two or more customers browsing.
