Neat little spot for a quick catch up with traditional dishes - reasonable wait time for the food considering how long the queue was nonstop (in the morning on a weekday). Ginger milk tea was flavourful! So was French toast with smoked cheese 👍🏻 serving of kaya is generous

A local coffee institution. Also provides the best service. Other than their delicious coffee and tea. They have light breakfast options that locals love, kaya toast and soft boiled eggs. Now regarding those eggs, Yakun is the only place I know that breaks the eggs for you and if the yolk is broken, you can request a fresh one. Competitors expect you to crack them eggs yourself.

This was one of the experiences we were most excited about in Singapore – trying the famous kaya toast. It certainly lived up to the hype and did not disappoint. While there’s room for improvement in their service, particularly from the cashier, the overall experience was enjoyable. The kaya toast itself was perfect. I adjusted the amount of butter to keep it light and avoid feeling too heavy eating an entire slice in one go. Instead of coffee, we opted for the iced Milo, and it was absolutely heavenly! We even visited a second branch and couldn’t resist ordering the same set with Milo again—it was that good. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this particular branch due to the lack of warmth from the staff.

A set of coffee and Kaya toast in a specialty cafe like Ya Kun Kaya Toast is definitely going to charge your day. But the winning prize here was finding a table after the order 😅. Be mindful it is always packed with people. I also ordered the toastwitch for my family. Crispy bread with yummy filling was surely a delight for their tummy.

A Taste of Tradition: Ya Kun Kaya Toast at Bugis Delivers a Classic Singaporean Breakfast Singapore – For a quintessential Singaporean breakfast experience that hits all the right nostalgic notes, Ya Kun Kaya Toast at Bugis Junction remains a beloved institution. This bustling outlet, conveniently located in the basement of the popular mall, consistently serves up its signature offerings with the comforting flavours that have made Ya Kun a household name. The star of the show, undoubtedly, is the Kaya Toast. Expect delightfully thin, crispy slices of bread, toasted to a perfect golden brown, sandwiching a generous spread of their iconic, fragrant kaya – a sweet, creamy coconut and egg jam. Paired with satisfying slabs of cold butter that melt into the warm toast, it's a simple yet incredibly effective combination that has locals and tourists alike coming back for more. Many opt for the value sets, which typically include this delectable toast alongside perfectly cooked, soft-boiled eggs and a traditional Kopi (coffee) or Teh (tea). The soft-boiled eggs at Ya Kun are often praised for their ideal consistency – runny yolks ready to be swirled with a dash of dark soy sauce and a sprinkle of white pepper, creating a savoury dip for your toast soldiers. The Kopi, strong, aromatic, and often served with condensed milk, provides that essential caffeine kick and a taste of local coffee shop culture. While the pre-sweetened nature of the traditional Kopi might be a surprise for some, it's an integral part of the authentic Ya Kun experience. The Bugis Junction branch, while often busy, maintains a relatively quick turnover, characteristic of the brand's efficient, no-frills service. The ambiance evokes a sense of old-world charm, with its classic decor reminiscent of traditional Chinese coffee shops, adding to the overall experience. While some long-time patrons might note occasional variations in toast crispiness or portion sizes – a common challenge for large chains – the core appeal of Ya Kun remains strong. The value for money, especially with the set meals, is generally considered good for a satisfying and iconic Singaporean breakfast. In conclusion, Ya Kun Kaya Toast at Bugis offers a reliably delicious and culturally rich breakfast or tea-time treat. It's a must-try for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Singapore's culinary heritage. Be prepared for potential crowds, but the reward of crispy kaya toast, perfect eggs, and fragrant local brew is well worth it.

Tried French toast, Kaya peanut, steamed bread set with coffee and ginger tea. I can’t say it’s great but it’s good with reasonable price. The toast is like any other toast we eat outside, but the peanut butter is something that we won’t find outside. Worth trying once. Coffee and tea are ok.

As far as ya kun outlets go, this isn't the best. Queue was very long and slow moving. A single person takes orders and prepares the food and drinks, while a few more aunties worked in the kitchen dunno doing what. Ordered a kopi c kosong ice, it was just OK. Better than a random kopitiam, but not as good as other ya kun outlets. They should improve their process to serve faster.

Pls Give it a try. It's really good. Traditional breakfast in Singapore. If you go here for early morning. Go down to the MRT station way. Then find the way to go up to Bugis Junction.

Always crowded and need to queue. Many customers were also selfish, sat alone hogging the table for 2/4 persons playing phone with earphone while they clearly had finished eating. No action by the staff to clear out the table from customers like this. Food is similar to any other Ya Kun, nothing special but comfortable and easy breakfast.

Fast and efficient. The iced teh is the same taste as other outlets. Very crowded as and busy as usual. Price of the drink is not that affordable anymore when buying it as a la carte. With set is more worth it.
